Trace Element Composition of Molybdenite: Deposit Type Discrimination and Limitations

چکیده

Molybdenite is a common sulfide hosting many trace elements. Trace elements in molybdenite from individual deposits have been widely used to constrain the source and conditions of ore-forming fluids. However, relationship between element composition deposit types has not well investigated large dataset. Here, simple statistics partial least squares–discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) were determine whether different can be distinguished by what factors control variations based on published laser ablation ICP–MS data. porphyry separated that quartz veins, greisen Sn–W, granite vein Mo, granodiorite Mo deposits. The former characterized relatively high Re, Cu, Ag, Se, Pb, Bi, Te contents, whereas latter higher Ni, Co, Sn, Sb W contents. Au ± (Au-dominated), Cu–Au–Mo (moderate Au) are other without gold due positive correlations with Au, Sb, Te, Bi for former. Assemblages Au–Sb–Te–Pb–Bi thus useful discriminate as contain degree mineralization. Higher oxygen fugacity responsible relative enrichment Sn–W deposits, lower results Re Cu There some limitations using an indicator mineral because complex occurrences molybdenite, compositional within specific type, imbalanced To develop tool, further work should carried out overcome these limitations. This study provides attempt classify important implications ore genesis research exploration.

Fluid inclusion characteristics and molybdenite Re-Os geochronology of the Qulong porphyry copper-molybdenum deposit, Tibet

The Qulong porphyry copper and molybdenum deposit is located at the southwest margin of the Lhasa Terrane and in the eastern region of the Gangdese magmatic belt. It represents China’s largest porphyry copper system, with ∼2200 million tonnes of ore comprising 0.5 % Cu and 0.03 % Mo. The mineralization is associated with Miocene granodiorite, monzogranite and quartz-diorite units, which intrude...

Geology of the Gibraltar Copper - Molybdenite Deposit , East - Central British Columbia ( 93 B / 9

During its 25 years of production from 1972 to 1998, the Gibraltar Cu-Mo mine in east-central British Columbia (Figure 1) milled a total of 324 million tons of ore containing an average 0.351% Cu from four open pits. Fieldwork during 2000 involved just over two weeks of detailed pit mapping at the mine. Results of this work and several earlier intervals of pit mapping conducted in 1998 and 1999...

Trace element remobilization at the Ok Tedi porphyry Cu-Au deposit, Papua New Guinea

The Ok Tedi Complex hosts a world-class porphyry copper-gold deposit. Samples from the Ok Tedi Complex and the neighbouring Mount Ian Complex were analyzed for major and trace elements using XRF and HR-ICP-MS, and the isotopic composition of S in sulphides was analyzed by Elemental Analyzer. Major element geochemistry indicates that both complexes are alkaline and contain rocks ranging in compo...

Cellular Trace Element Changes in Type 1 Diabetes Patients

OBJECTIVE Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) may lead to deficiencies in trace elements that have substantial functions in the human organism. Changes in serum magnesium (Mg), copper (Cu), and zinc (Zn) levels are correlated with metabolic control and diabetes complications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the intra-erythrocyte levels of trace elements and urinary Mg excretion following intr...
